AniCura's Antibiotic Guidelines - Webinar Series

ON-LINE, ON DEMAND, always accessible!

Through a series of webinars, covering the our most common indications for systemics antibiotics, learn more how to use antibiotics wisely and in accordance to AniCura's Antibiotic Guidelines for Treatment and Prophylaxis. The series is open-access to all AniCurians by using the link below.

The spread of resistant bacteria is called the silent pandemic and globally kills 700 000 people yearly. And there is no vaccine! The World Health Organisation has stipulated that antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health. AniCura fights antibiotic resistance by working for a wiser use of antibiotic and securing efficient infection prevention and control.

In wiser antimicrobial use we focus on the right patient to receive the right antibiotic substance for an adequate duration following a diagnostic work-up.

To become wiser, the first decision is the most crucial and the most difficult step. AniCura’s guidelines want to give further guidance on how to distinguish between patients that require antibiotic treatment from those who do not. Here, the guiding star should be the patient’s general condition judged by anamnesis and clinical examination, not the diagnosis the patient has nor the results from the diagnostic work-up.

The following areas are discussed during the webinar series:

  • Surgical antibiotic prophylaxis
  • Wounds and abscesses
  • Skin infections
  • Gastro-intestinal disease
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Lower and Upper respiratory diseases
  • Dental procedures
