We would like to welcome you to the Versavet Small Animal Gastrointestinal Congress, that will take place February 29th - March 1st 2024 at Kinepolis Gent Belgium!
The congress plans to share updated knowledge on different topics pertaining gastrointestinal tract pathologies. The focus of the meeting is to propagate new insights on pathophysiology, educate on new diagnostic techniques, update current treatment plans, and introduce less-invasive treatment methods where possible.
This 2-day congress for veterinarians is preceded by 2 full day of masterclasses at Orsi training centre Melle.
During the masterclasses short lectures are followed by hands-on training. There will be two different streams, including endoscopic/interventional training and open surgery training.
For the two days of lectures international specialists in their field will cover the different facets of gastrointestinal tract pathologies. The meeting aims to appeal to practicing veterinarians that want to improve their general knowledge, but also those that want to specifically acquire new skills.
The working language for both the masterclasses and the lectures is English.

Learning Objectives
On February 27-28th 3 masterclasses are organized.
On 27 feb the flexible endoscopy masterclass consists of a morning program with practical lectures, while the afternoon is reserved for hands-on practice. Participants will be trained in instrument requirements, flexible endoscope care, esophageal foreign body removal, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy.
On 28 feb the interventional endoscopy masterclass consist of a morning program with practical lectures, while the afternoon is reserved for hands-on practice. Participants will be trained in feeding tube placement, esofageal and colonic strictures, Be tube, feeding tube placement, management of esophageal tears, submucosal injections and polyp snare extraction.
on 27-28feb the gastrointestinal open surgery masterclass, a 2 day course follows the same build. Participants are trained in a variety of open surgery techniques.
On February 29th a first full day of lectures is planned focusing on the upper gastrointestinal tract. Topics cover imaging techniques, anesthesia, peritonitis, portosystemic shunt, esophageal pathologies, and gastric dilatation volvulus.
A congress dinner is organized at 18.30 in the Fantasia room at Kinepolis.
On March 1st a second full day of lectures is planned focusing on the lower gastrointestinal tract. Topics cover liver and gallbladder disease, hepatopathies, protein losing enteropathy, fecal transplantation, laparoscopic icg surgery, and intestinal neoplasia.
An international team of specialist in their field is attracted to host the hands-on workshop and main program lectures.
