Daphne Dielissen: AniCura Deventer & AniCura Apeldoorn

Hello! My name is Daphne Dielissen, and I’m 27 years old, living in Heeten, the Netherlands, with my husband Willem (also a veterinarian), our cat Joep, and our two goats. After completing my studies at Utrecht University, I started my career at AniCura Deventer, where I had completed my final internship. I also work at AniCura Apeldoorn, and every day brings new opportunities to learn and grow

Joining the AniCura Veterinary Graduate Programme

It was my practice manager who suggested the AniCura Veterinary Graduate Programme. I was inspired by the enthusiasm of a colleague who had completed the programme two years prior, and I decided to take the leap.

Facing challenges and growing through learning

One of the biggest challenges I faced as a new graduate was assessing X-rays. During the programme, we had a lecture dedicated to this topic that provided clear, actionable insights. It was a turning point for me, and I now approach imaging with confidence and clarity.

Another memorable experience was a practical session on advanced life support. The training gave me the tools to stay calm and focused during emergencies, which has had a lasting impact on my work.

A day in the clinic

Mornings at my clinic are often spent performing dental procedures, while afternoons are filled with consultations. Thanks to the programme’s focus on communication skills, I feel equipped to navigate shared decision-making with pet owners. It’s rewarding to see the positive impact clear communication can have on both pets and their families.

Looking Ahead

My goal is to continue improving my skills in dentistry and surgery while enjoying the camaraderie of my colleagues. AniCura has been instrumental in supporting my growth, providing coaching and opportunities to learn.

To new graduates, my advice is simple: don’t hesitate to ask for help and trust that you know more than you think. Growth is a journey, and the AniCura Veterinary Graduate Programme is a fantastic starting point.
