Bart Johnson has been appointed the new President of AniCura. Bart joins from Linnaeus, also part of Mars Veterinary Health, where he has led the business since 2019. During that time, Linnaeus has grown rapidly from 85 to 190 practices, including entering the Republic of Ireland, and are widely viewed in the veterinary industry as a reference for quality services.
Bart has over 25 years experience in healthcare, beginning his career in the pharmaceutical industry before joining the UK National Health Service (NHS) in 2000 where he held several senior leadership and CEO roles. In 2006 Bart left the NHS to lead Assura Medical and subsequently became CEO of Virgin Care when Assura Medical was acquired by Virgin in 2010. He led that business through a period of very rapid growth as they became one of the leading independent providers of NHS services.
Bart Johnson succeeds Azita Shariati, who has stepped down to pursue opportunities outside of AniCura and Mars.
